My name is Kevin “Wolverine” Walsh. I was given the Wolverine totem name by Race Director Chris Kostman before the 1991 Furnace Creek 508. I have the most Furnace Creek 508 solo finishes with 10. I also have the 2-person, mixed, 50+ age category record by 1 hour and 40 minutes. All of my finishes were on the Furnace Creek course: 508 miles with 35,000 feet of climbing.
I’ve been riding my road bike long distance since 1982. My first double century (DC) was the 1982 Tour of Two Forests (ToTF). I was hooked after my first DC and have been riding/racing DCs every year since 1982. In 1991 I started riding 24-hour races and the FC 508, which is a Race Across America (RAAM) qualifier.
