01/30/20: Very Unexpected: my strongest ride on PowerCranks (PCs) the day after feeling like crap from Monday’s infusion of Truxima which is a maintenance drug for Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Today was a beautiful late January weather day in the high desert. FOX@1:56: 63deg; ENE6. I wore shorts and a short sleeve jersey – felt great! I didn’t want to overdo it today based on how crappy I felt yesterday (headache and body ache). Plus, I knew I’d be lifting weights for one hour after the ride.

I’m starting to feel the power of pedaling the PCs. My average pedaling cadence is noticeably faster. I tried standing up out of the saddle going both ways up the overpass of the SR14 freeway, Pedaling out of the saddle is really hard using the PCs. I only managed 2 full rotations – one with each leg before falling down onto the saddle. I did about a 1/2 mile interval before the turnaround at Ave G and 70E. I was able to average 273 Watts. I wasn’t sure how I would feel after the interval but I wound up feeling good. The normalized power for today’s ride (from Garmin Connect) was 168W – the highest nP since I started riding the PCs late November. I felt good at the end of the ride. My pedaling cadence was still smooth. FOX@3:20: 64deg; E@6.
